Mr. Ken Corley
This year’s man of the year goes to a gentleman who showed up in Brazoria, not very well-liked, and in gangster style.
Over the years, he became involved in our small town that seemed to be stagnant in growth.
Through his involvement, Brazoria began to show signs of new life.
He was instrumental in assisting the Brazoria Police Department in obtaining new bulletproof vests, with help from the Lions Club, and built a walking track for the school, as well as improving the City parks in town.
The two biggest game changers came from a meeting in Lake Jackson. In that meeting, a comment was made apparently to the “right person,” and shortly afterwards, the Texas Dow Employees Credit announced they were building a branch in Brazoria.
The Second one was the battle of the district between Brazoria and West Columbia, which ended with West Brazos Junior High being built in Brazoria.
Being semi-retired and still as grumpy as ever, we want to recognize our man of the year, Retired Mayor of Brazoria, Lions Club member, and Chamber member, Mr. Ken Corley!
